oh-JING-aw-go. Ojingaw (오징어) is the Korean for “squid”. The “go” at the end is just for fun.I picked up this little book the other day. Everything about it is beautiful: from the paper, printing, design, illustrations and storylines. The artist is Montrealer Matthew Forsythe, who has had Ojingogo as a web comic since 2004. Quirky, thoughtful, sweet, funny with a little dark humour. Who could ask for more?
FROM THE BOOK: Exuding simplicity in design and marrative, Ojingogo is an illustrated dreamscape about a girl, a squid and the creatures and calamities they experience together. Drawing from Forsythe's Korean influsences, Ojingogo tosses aside traditional narrative in favour of creating its own world, language and rules in whihc anybody can find a home of their own.
